More Xmas ideas. The Shelby Slot Car Race Track ($250 USD), features over 63 feet of track and comes with a pair of well sorted 1964 Daytona Coupe replicas. Each car uses a high-conductivity phosphor bronze shoe in conjunction with a 22-volt power pack, allowing the Daytona’s to do what they do best, go fast (relatively). Additional bits include two remote controls, as well as period correct grandstands and pit setup. Would I want one? Probably not. But then again, I am not twelve, nor do I have an elaborate model train setup in my basement... Your thoughts? // 10.15.2008

We had a slot car track set up in a common area at work. It was fun for a couple of days, then everybody lost interest.
ReplyDeleteInterest was renewed when we built one large ramp with the entire track, and found we could launch the cars over a cubicle wall. This culminated in several cubes worth of jumping power due to the introduction of an industrial grade power supply. It was fun while it lasted, but it ended up destroying the cars.
Slot cars are a good time, even for "old" people :)
