THE GENERALS NEW ENTRY // WTCC CHEVY CRUZE

With the release of the 2010 Chevrolet Cruze sedan at the Paris Motor Show, fans of General Motors were curious what would replace the race proven Lacetti in the WTCC. Rumor gave way to fact, as Chevy released these early images of a race prepped Cruze, ready for the 2009 WTCC season. Replacing a proven winner is no easy task, especially considering the Lacetti has 12 Championship wins under its belt. Chevrolet Europe’s Motorsports Manager, Eric Neve, had this to say about the Cruze’s WTCC development: "With the Cruze, we will put the bar even higher and firmly aim at winning the World Championship. Chevrolet’s unique ‘trump card’ is having worked with the same team, engineers and drivers for the past four seasons, with the success we all know. To be able to do this again with the Cruze will only help to increase our chances of achieving our goals.” The race ready Cruze will see its first test in Brazil, at the opening round of the 2009 WTCC // 10.15.2008
