Romain Grosjean and his teammate, Thomas Mutsch, dominated the opening round of the new FIA GT1 World Championship at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. At the wheel of the Matech Ford GT1, Mutsch led from pole position until he was brought in for an unusually early pitstop. When Grosjean re-enetered the race, the former Renault F1 driver found himself with a narrow lead over Marc Hennerici in the second place Phoenix/Carsport Chevrolet. But with new tires underneath him, Grosjean was able to pull away from the Z06 Corvette and would go on to finish more than 20 seconds ahead of Hennerici when the checkered flag fell after one hour of racing.

Justin,
ReplyDeleteCan i make a small suggestion? Is is possible to keep spoilers out of the title of a blog post? I appreciate you want to put up the latest news, but having not watched the qualifying or races, i didn't want to know who won!
It's not the first time it's happened. I enjoy reading this blog, but it forces me to stay away on race weekends!
