Courtesy of CTD correspondent Russell O’Connell, take a look at yet another insane E30 build. This time around however, we find a normally aspirated E90 M5 V10 stuffed beneath the hood of a featherweight 1988 E30 M3. To combat weight distribution issues, all new OEM E90 front and rear sub frames and suspension pieces were used in the build, as well a hearty roll cage to stiffen up the chassis.
As of just a few days ago, the guys at Piper Motorsports had this beast up and running with ‘most’ of the kinks worked out. Weighing in at a mere 2600lbs with a 53/47 weight ratio, the V10 powered M3 is not far off its target weight of 2800lbs (which will include glass, interior bits and paint). We will try and keep you updated on the M3/5 build, but in the mean time, here is a little teaser of things to come // 12.12.2008
