“There’s still plenty of scope for us to get even more out of the car,” said the 2001 champion. “We proved at Rockingham that our car is capable of winning races, and the changes we made between the first and second races saw us improve the car considerably – but I think we’ll be even faster as the season progresses.”
Plato who captured his 54th BTCC victory in race two at the Northamptonshire circuit goes into this weekends 3rd round of the series at Brands Hatch with a healthy 17 point championship lead from the Honda Civic of long time rival Matt Neal. The 42 yr old is relishing racing at Brands with the Cruze and thinks the GP circuit could well suit the it, "I'm very much looking forward to Brands, its a great circuit and we all love to race round there.
Plato scored a fantastic triple race victory on the GP circuit last October but is not taking anything for granted, "Whether or not we will have such a dominant time as last year remains to be seen, I think our car will be good there but we will have to wait and see!"
The RML driver posted the quickest time at the pre-season official TOCA test at the Kent circuit albeit on the shorter "Indy Circuit" layout.
Along with Plato leading the drivers championship Silverline Chevrolet/RML now lead the Manufacturers standings ahead of Team Honda.
