Plato, who has contested over 300 BTCC races stated earlier in the year that if he could find the required budget he would very much like to stay with the team for 2010.
The Chevrolet Cruze which in the hands of Yvan Muller claimed a race one victory for RML at the recent opening round of the WTCC in Curitiba,Brazil, is widely acknowledged as a step up performance wise from the Lacetti with which Plato narrowly missed out on his second BTCC title last year. Given RML's experience with the model albeit with Yokohama tyres rather than the Dunlop's used in the BTCC Plato would surely go into the season as a genuine title favourite should he be officially confirmed in the seat.
Also testing at Oulton were the West Surrey Racing BMW's of Andy Neate and Robb Collard, along with the Vauxhall Vectra's of Andy Jordan and David Pinkney.
