A PIECE OF MOTORSPORT HISTORY // BRUN PORSCHE 962-107

The Brun Porsche featured above, chassis 962-107, began its career as the 962C-107 and competed in the World Sportscar Championship with the Brun Porsche team. In its first outing, the German prototype scored a podium finish when it took third at the 1000km of Mugello in 1985. As it turns out, victory was not in the cards for the 962-107 and after a crash at the 1985 24 Hours of Le Mans, the chassis was repared and the car brought within IMSA-GTP specifications. This required the Porsche to run an air-cooled single turbo powerplant in addition to other minor changes. Before the car was shipped to the US, Porsche rebranded the prototype 962-107, dropping the Group C designation.

In 2000, the Porsche 962-107 was meticulously restored to its original condition, toe include the IMSA livery it sported during the mid-eighties. Additional improvements included an upgrade to Brembo brakes, a new Garrett turbocharger and a complete overhaul of the 3.2L air-cooled powerplant.

Since it was retired in 1987 the 962-107 has seen light track duty and was most recently seen at an SCCA event at Portland International Raceway.
