LOCAL RIDE [AUSTRALIA] // SHANES OLD SCHOOL SILVIA

First time I heard about Shane’s S13 was off a group of friends at a track day, we were discussing how every Silvia was starting to look the same and stick to a code of look. But after the next track day I came face to face with this 90’s styled S13, or should I say face to rear? That sounds a little perverted but what I mean by that is I saw the rear of this thing while I was lined up behind it at Oran Park Raceway in Sydney, Australia. The first thing I noticed of course was the Uber rare Duck Tail wing that looks like it came off a AE86 where in actual fact this is a S13 specific wing!... [read more]

Shane first got into drifting and the culture in his later high school days first coming in contact with it through the HPI magazines and Playstation Games. Soon after gaining legal right to drive he bought a NA S13 from an auction after only seeing one photo. The car had been a stolen car and had all the drift goodies just not the desired Turbo engine that this model had actually come stock with. As Shane started to learn to move his car and gain confidence, he decided for him to further enhance his skills a Turbo S13 was needed.

After picking up the said turbo S13 he started out by moving all the good bits from his NA S13 to the new one in order to get her up to speed. Once this lil sucker was up to Shanes spec was as soon as the 15?7.5 Meshes found their way onto this 90’s wonder soon to follow was that trademark ducktail wing.

Now I could do as other magazines do and say then he bolted this on and that and then he added a fish tank but this is not a normal car and Shane really isn’t your normal Drifter.

How? You say. Shane doesn’t have three heads nor is a direct descendant of Takumi. What he is, is a member of Team God Speed. A group of fellas who love motorsport and all met through their local church. Shane and his family are still regulars at the local church and so is the S13 with it making Sunday services rain, hail or shine!

Speaking of Shane’s family. Shane’s father is also a regular at all the drift days that Shane drives in! Coming out and lending a hand where ever he can and even sometimes towing complete strangers broken cars home, this is the sort of thing that our sport and culture is all about!

Now all that aside Shane is one of the nicest and crazy guys I’ve met in drifting and this can be seen at any drift day with his pit lane antics. But Shane’s skills behind the wheel are something to be seen. With stupidly early entries and just about always hitting the clipping points! When I asked Shane’s outlook on Drift his words were “have fun first, compete second” great attitude!

  1. don't get me wrong, i like slammed cars with super low offset wheels and all but....

i love cars like this so much more :) the color, the wheel choice, the height, it's perfect. a lot of cars looked like this in the 90's and in the initial d manga series.

i love it :) makes me want an s13.

just get another steering wheel D:
