Bugatti is a steam train. No, more like a diesel suburban. Building power, rolling it on, pushing forward. If you have ever driven a hulking diesel truck or people puller, you are well aware, that once it gets moving, its no simple task to slow down. Somewhere around a year ago Bugatti lost its title of 'worlds fastest production car.' Having tapped the 253mph mark, the French automaker was sure they had secured themselves a bit of history. Then, along came little known, Washington based SSC and their Ultimate Aero TT. 257mph! Yeah, that's what the SSC did. And to make matters worse, yet another unknown came out with their Porsche 9ff GT9 and laid down a 254mph pass. Now, you think Bugatti will let all this stand? We don’t. According to a memo leaked from Bugatti, one last variant of their uber car will be available before the worlds fastest VW is no longer produced. They are calling it the Veyron GT, and this time the 8.0 Liter, quad-turbo W16 will make a solid 1,350bhp and 1,018 lb/ft of torque. All that should be good for 264mph and a 0-60 time of just under 2.4 seconds. Additionally, with an upgrade of carbon ceramic brake parts, the 60-0 time should be in the 2.2 second range. So, what about those that just laid down the $1.8 million for their so called ‘supercar’? According to the same memo, Bugatti will bring any existing Veyron up to GT specs, not sure of cost however.
