9ff GT9 // 254mph

Outdoing the Bugatti Veyron is a feat in and of itself, a challenge only a few are worthy of and one that but a few can afford. Porsche tuners 9ff took that challenge, and won. Besting the Veyron’s top speed run of 252mph by a solid two miles per hour, tagging a top speed of 254mph back in April. Now that's all said and done, 9ff is putting the record holding car up for sale. The GT9 as it is called, utilizes the front structure of the GT3 Porsche, though little else is the same. The team at 9ff, headed by Jan Fatthauer, the man behind the wheel at 254mph, took what was a supercar and made it a bit stronger. Power comes from a 4.0 liter 996 Turbo engine, featuring titanium conrods, forged pistons and an induction plate coated in 24k gold. Only 20 GT9’s will be built, and with a price of nearly 500,000 euros ($789,125 currently), we are unlikely to see one here in the states // 07.10.2008
