Everyone is Getting Older // Celebrating 60

It seems like everyone is turning 60 these days. While the ColdTrackDays staff were out at the SOVREN races over the past weekend, the marque for the event was Porsche. A reminder that the German automaker was celebrating 60 years, the celebration included a 'car coral' full of vintage and modern rear engine Germans, as well as Steve McQueen's Porsche 917. In keeping with the 60 year celebration, Jaguar will be celebrating 60 years of their XK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, beginning tomorrow. All of that being said, it seemed only fitting to provide our readers with a bit of in car action via a few vintage and modern Porsche's. Derek Bell, climbing behind the wheel of two Porsche's that may well define everything we love about rear engined Germans, hits the track at Rockingham. The first ride is a 911 2.7RS, a car that offers little in creature comforts and plenty in go-fast fun. The second car is a brand new GT2, twin-turbos, lots of horsepower and a few dollars, propel Bell around the race track. It is interesting to see a British racing legend relay his thoughts on what Porsche has accomplished over 60 years of production. So who's birthday is next?
