The 36 year old will join Dave Bartrum's squad aiming to assist the Wrotham based team in its bid to secure the "Independents" drivers title. Both regular drivers Stephen Kane and Mat Jackson are still in the running with just the final three races of 2010 at Brands to run.
"It's fantastic news to be confirmed in the Airwaves BMW line-up and I'm looking forward to my first outing in the BTCC which should be an action-packed finale for Britain’s premier racing series," said Collins. " I had a test with Motorbase Performance last year in the BMW and they are clearly a highly professional and highly motivated team which I'm really keen to work with.”
The final round of the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship takes place at Brands Hatch (Indy Circuit) on 9th/10th October.

Some say he only got this ride due to his notoriety as The Stig....and that he will find out it's not the same when there are others on the track and no editing allowed...
ReplyDeleteAll we know is that we call him...(fill in your own editorial name here!)
Hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI love the opinion that Ben Collins sold out. Perry McCarthy did the same thing! And he only got the ride due to him being The Stig? Laughable! He has raced before, can drive quite well (obviously!), runs a very successful business and is now a free agent.
Quite frankly, the people who rubbish the guy are sad cases. "As if you'd give up that gig?" "He's ruined Top Gear!" "I plan to boycott his book, everyone should do the same so he's ruined!"
Hilarious! The guy is more successful than most people will ever be, he's had an amazing experience portraying a character and now he wants to move on with his life!
I'll be buying his book and anyone who doesn't to try and ruin him are the real victims. We should praise peoples success, not try and tear them down!
