BTCC NEWS // MOTORBASE DELIGHTED W/AIRWAVES RETURN

It has been quite an interesting month for British Touring Car Team Motorbase Performance to say the least. First the surprise defection of Robb Collard to rival BMW team WSR, which unsurprisingly had a negative effect on morale and now just as Dave Bartrum's team were searching for drivers who could bring ever more substantial budgetary input into the team the fantastic news that Wrigley "Airwaves" their title sponsor throughout 2009 have decided to effectively reverse their decision to withdraw from their partnership with the Kent team... Once again Motorbase will field a pair of BMW 320si's which will be run under the Team Airwaves banner and with further positive sponsorship news that Leyland Paints will also continue their support, 2010 is now looking a whole lot more positive.

Team Principal Dave Bartrum would still not be drawn as to the likely driver line-up but hinted that it could well be their most promising yet "Our original plan was to run a series newcomer alongside an experienced driver, in the same way that we brought Steven Kane and Jonathan Adam to touring cars over the past couple of years. I'm not sure it will quite work out like that now - as things stand today, we might even go one better.”

With West Surrey Racing yet to announce a possible third car and reigning BTCC champion Colin Turkington still waiting on the sidelines, maybe the coveted No1 will end up on the side of a different BMW than was first thought.

Several drivers have tested with the team over the course of the winter including the aforementioned Stephen Kane, Tim Bridgman, Ben Collins and Alex McDowell.

The BTCC "Media Day" is at Brands Hatch UK on Tuesday March 23rd where Motorbase are expected to name their 2010 drivers.
