Reigning Danish Touring Car Champion Michel Nykjær has just signed on to drive for leading WTCC independent team, SUNRED Engineering.

"I have already had two test drives in the SEAT TDI León, and it is a fantastic car," said Michel. "Sunred and Seat Sport have very close relations, and I have full confidence that they can help me to reach the very top of the tree. My goal is to win the private drivers' championship, the Independent's Trophy, in 2010, which I consider realistic despite the stiff competition."
Along with two DTC titles to his name, Nykjaer from Næstved in Denmark has a multitude of experience in all types of front wheel drive machinery in a career that stretches back to 1989.
For the talented Scandinavian a series of test sessions are planned ahead of his debut at the opening round in Curitiba, Brazil, on the weekend of March 5th-7th.
