After day two of the Monte Carlo Rally, FInnish WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen still leads the event by a 47 second margin, however disaster struck reigning IRC champion Kris Meeke as the Britian crashed out.
Meeke lost control of his Peugeot on the approach to a tight right hander on the opening stage of the day, and crashed down the side of a bridge embankment into retirement. Both Meeke and co-driver Paul Nagle were uninjured.
Hirvonen however was not quickest on any of this afternoon's three stages, Juho Hanninen was fastest through stage 8 and a scorching drive from Frenchman Sebastien Ogier saw him quickest on the final pair of stages as he continues to fight back from losing time with a puncture yesterday...
