Earlier this year Ford commited to the WRC for 2010/2011 and also stated that their future would lie with the Fiesta although the final spec of the 2011 WRC version
is yet to be confirmed due to the finalisation of the 2011 WRC Regulations by the World Motor Sports Council, due for release at the next WMSC meeting in December.

Both the M-Sport engineering team and the Ford small cars team, came together and applied the know-how of the Ford Focus RS WRC, to extract the most dynamic and aggressive rally car in this the S2000 class.

The Ford and M-Sport partnership started back in 90's, when the magnificent Ford Escort Cosworth was brought on the rally stage.

An enthusiastic M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson spoke about the new car commenting “Today is a very exciting day for us. This is the first global rally car for Ford and M-Sport, I really believe that we have produced a fantastic rally car and this launch is a big step to seeing it out competing in rallies. It’s the first time in five years that we have been able to offer a Ford rally car that can challenge for overall victory in national championships across the world.

The new car has seen an extensive testing programme over the last month and initial impressions with regard to it's competitiveness are very encouraging.
