Martin Whitmarsh of the Mclaren Mercedes Team was non-committal when asked if there had been any negotiations with Button or his management.
"We've talked to a number of drivers," Whitmarsh told the the "Daily Mail". "It wouldn't be appropriate to say more than that.
The move would be an obvious coup for Mclaren in capturing the services of the current Champion and it certainly would be a sponsors dream having both 2008 and 2009 champions in one team.
