RACE RESULTS // 2009 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX @ MONZA

Rubens Barrichello and teammate Jenson Button led yet another one-two finish for Brawn GP, as a late race incident caused current World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, to lose control of his McLaren, handing the race win over to Rubens Barrichello and Ross Brawn. While the Brazilian certainly ran an error free race, it was a combination of pit strategy and tire wear that put Barrichello at the front. Also on the podium was the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen, who having qualified third, was able to maintain his grid position for much of the race and bring home another podium finish for the Scuderia. Also of note was the 4th place finish of Adrian Sutil, who after qualifying second, ran an error free race himself, but was held back by a two-stop strategy that allowed Lewis Hamilton and the pair of Brawn GP drivers to take the front.

The win for Barrichello puts him within 14 points of his teammate Jenson Button, the current championship points leader. Follow the link for a bit of video, a handful of images and complete results from the 2009 Italian Grand Prix at Monza... [read more]
