On September 11, 1966 the Canadian-American Challenge debuted at the Mont Tremblant road course in St Jovite near the Canadian city of Montreal. Lining up on the grid were some of the greatest names in motorsport; John Surtees, Bruce McLaren, Chris Amon, Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones... Seated side by side in British desinged, American powered prototypes, it is no surprise Can-Am went on to become one of the most popular racing series in the history of motorsport.
