NEIL TOZER REPORTS // A BIT OF BTCC NEWS

Ahead of this weekend's 4th, 5th and 6th rounds of the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton, UK there a few amendments to the drivers line up and series news.
 
In at Team Dynamics is former BTCC Champion, James Thompson, who is replacing Gordon Shedden in the Honda Civic. Thompson, who lost his full time WTCC drive with N -Technology when they pulled out at the end of last season, has been snapped up by Steve Neal due to contractual problems which have afflicted Shedden... As of now it would seem Jason Plato (below) is still trying to acquire the funding for another outing in the RML Chevrolet, but it has been announced this week that Matt Jackson, who enjoyed a high level of success during the 2008 season with his Team Jackson BMW, will be returning to the series at Thruxton in a RML Lacetti.

Also announced since the opening rounds at Brands Hatch, is that at the end of the season, Vauxhall will officially withdraw from the series due to the present economic climate. A return has not been ruled out in the future though for the longest standing manufacturer team within the BTCC under its current guise.
 
Staying on the Vauxhall front, this weekend Fabrizio Giovanardi (below) should be the man to watch in qualifying as he has a tremendous record around the airfield circuit. Following his relatively dismal start to the season at Brands, the Italian is keen to kick start his defence of the title with race wins.

Meanwhile, the BTCC support series have each had test sessions at the circuit last Tuesday in preperation for this weekends event. CTD's Neil Tozer was there to capture the usual curb hopping Renault Clio's
