ColdTrackDays's UK correspondent, Neil Tozer, was brought up with the annual Easter Meeting at Thruxton Circuit, in fact his first visit was back in 1970 during the glory days of Formula Two. He swears to us at the CTD office that if he shuts his eyes while meandering round Allard Corner he can still hear the wail of a Honda V6 at full chat.
Traditionally the BARC Easter event was always the biggest on Thruxton's calendar and attracted massive crowds for F2 and later F3000 back in the 70's and early 80's. Nowadays with the ever changing times and bland FIA circuits, a rather smaller event usually graces the tarmac over the holiday period.

Some time honoured classics were still being hustled rather quickly around the 2.35 mile circuit, which is the fastest in the UK and has remained largely unchanged since its reopening in 1968.

The MK1 Ford Escort need we say more! Its place in motorsport history is guaranteed, its racing and rallying history is folklore.
A Chevy Camaro is just the right sort of car to be able to stretch its legs around the flat out sweeping bends that make up nearly two thirds of the circuit.
The Mighty Jaguar XJ12 of David Howard tackles the chicane.
But the real stars of the show were the Superkarts, although not as quick as their twin cylinder brothers, the single 250cc machines were a great spectacle and the quality of racing was fantastic.
If you ever get the chance to witness these 140mph machines in action, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
