The eighth stage of the 2009 Dakar Rally is in the books, and the VW Motorsports team remains in the lead. Carlos Sainz extended his lead over VW teammates, de Villiers and Miller, while Joan Roma in the Mitsubishi seems to be the only non VW left with a chance for glory. The 2009 Dakar will continue tomorrow with 116 cars, 62 trucks and 137 bikes left in the field. Highlight reel above, top ten after eight stages below:
