The final race of the 2008 Super GT season is in the books, with foul weather accompanying the field of Japanese supercars this past weekend at the Fuji Speedway. 47,100 fans took to their seats, fending off the cold and the rain, to see the GT-R teams wrap up a GT500 class victory for Nissan. The REAL NSX had claimed the pole position, but could only hold the lead for a short time. As the rain lifted and the teams switched back to dry weather tires, the Calsonic GT-R, piloted by Tsugio Matsuda and Sebastien Phillipe, captured the lead from the NSX and took the win. This was the second win of the season for the Calsonic GT-R and the seventh for Nissan’s GT-R in it’s debut year. A very successful season for Nissan as a whole, not only winning this weekends GT500 and GT300 classes, but taking the driver’s championship for the season as well. It seems as though Nissan’s GT-R has proven itself thus far... Photo's come courtesy of SuperGT // 11.11.2008
