We have reported on a handful of tuned GT2 Porsche’s here at ColdTrackDays, and frankly, we are getting a bit tired of it (ed note- I’m not!). So, with news of yet another high horsepower, slightly overdone GT2 being released, we were a little hesitant to post. But after a few tense moments in the office (no really, it got ugly), we decided it was best to share the goods with you, the reader.
The tuning comes from the gentlemen at 9ff, you know, the guys responsible for the Bugatti beater GT9, and this time around they chose the 997 GT2 as their platform. Horsepower gets a bump to 670bhp and torque numbers rise to 590lb/ft. The gentlemen at 9ff call it the GT2-670, and it will will run from a standstill to sixty in 3.4 seconds, and touch 124mph in a mere 9.8 seconds. Now you might take note, that those numbers are not far from the factory GT2’s, which begs the question, why? Well our friends from Stuttgart have a pretty good handle on how to put power to the ground (i.e. the 997’s Tiptronic gearbox) and the extra 140bhp that 9ff has squeezed out of the GT2 is small potatoes (in terms of tuned Porsche’s). But have no fear, 9ff has pre-production plans for a 9ff-GT2-910 in the very near future. Yeah, like 910bhp. Now that might be worth a blog posting... Your thoughts? // 11.13.2008
