GOODWOOD REVIVAL '08 // CTD.COM IS ENVIOUS

With period correct attire, automobiles and plenty of proper racing, the Goodwood Revival may be the most appealing motorsport event of the season. The above image showcases just a few of the treasures not only showing themselves at the Goodwood House, but racing as well. A Ferrari 330 LMB (of which only four were ever built), leads a Ferrari 250 GT SWB “Breadvan,” a Ferrari 250 GTO and a Jaguar E Type “lowdrag coupe." These are but a few examples of the automotive eye candy at this years revival. With automobile racing having returned to the Goodwood house only ten years ago, the revival represents a leap into the past, showcasing the Goodwood course as it once was.

The history of the race track itself is nearly as impressive as the cars that run on it. Today's Goodwood Circuit was built on a former airstrip, the Battle of Britain base, Westhampnett, which was a military installation built by the 9th Duke of Richmond for the war effort. The Goodwood Circuit would see extensive forms of racing take place from the wars end, through 1966 when the circuit was closed. For the Goodwood Revival, only cars that pre-date 1966 are permitted, and period correct attire is encouraged for both spectators and participants (gentlemen will not be permitted in the pits without proper shirt and tie, sorry). Taking place the last weekend in September, the Goodwood Revival may be on the CTD race schedule for next season, we’ll see. For a well sorted photo gallery from this years event, click here.
