Throw a ‘Type-R’ badge on just about anything and it can only mean one of two things. One; you have a Honda Civic with chrome rims, an overpowering exhaust and a ‘powered by Honda’ sticker running the width of your windshield. Or two, it came factory like that (no, not with the window-sticker and the chrome rims) and it has a bit more to work with then the base model. Take for instance the aforementioned Civic Type-R (the real one). Already a significantly more potent version of an otherwise mild mannered (think Clark Kent) daily driver. Well, the folks at Mugen have taken it one step further. They call it the ‘Type-RR,’ and a limited run of 300 is scheduled to be made. Pushing out 240bhp and 218 lb/ft of torque to the front wheels, the Type-RR comes equipped with a stiffer suspension setup and sheds a much needed 33lbs. Still not sure why they went with the sedan platform, but then again, the market gets what the market wants... your thoughts? // 10.05.2008
