CLEANING UP THE MESS // SWISSTRAX

If you are like us, your garage is a sanctuary. A place to escape from any number of things, dive into a project and worry little about what is happening anywhere else. Some of the staff here at CTD didn’t have the opportunity to grow up with a garage as a part of their life (city dwellers), I on the other hand, am well aware of the pleasures a garage can afford. I am also aware, as I am sure you are, that a garage can be a dirty place, spilt oil, tools littering the benches, floor covered in cardboard from tranny flushes and oil changes. Enter Swisstrax. Originally produced out of Switzerland and now hailing from the shores of California, Swisstrax is the garage floor god as far as we are concerned (those of us stuck here in Seattle that is, not fairy tale track side at Monza. Bitter, I know). Easy to lay out a custom floor plan, Swisstrax offers interlocking pieces that both protect and look quite a bit better than the usual concrete covered, cupcake sprinkle,out of the can gray we are so accustom to. Backed by a 12 year warranty and able to withstand 40,000 pounds of roll-over compression, the Swisstrax system (which sells for $3.95 sq/ft) is a worthy replacement and a much needed improvement in my garage // 09.17.2008
