F1 UPDATE // KOVALAINEN WINS HUNGARIAN GP

Heikki Kovalainen and teammate Lewis Hamilton looked good coming into today's race, having placed one and two in qualifying. But the big surprise was not the pair of McLaren's, it was Felippe Massa passing Hamilton on the first lap, in the first turn. Taking the lead and holding it, the victory looked to be in Massa's pocket. But with just three laps to go, Massa suffered engine failure taking him out of the lead and the race in whole. Hamilton, who had held the second spot for much of the race, unable to catch the Ferrari of Massa, was bumped to the fifth spot after a tire puncture. Kovalainen, making his way from third, took advantage of the opportunity, and took the lead. As the checkered flag waved, it was Kovalainen, Glock and Raikkonen in the top three. Heikki Kovalainen's victory moved him into the sixth position in the drivers championship and Hamilton's fifth place finish kept him five points ahead of Raikkonen and eight points ahead of Massa. The European Grand Prix in Valencia is next, with practice on 8.22 and racing on 8.24. Stay tuned to ColdTrackDays for additional Formula One coverage // 08.03.2008
