RHAPSODIE IN BLECH // BEFORE GRAN TURISMO

It is painfully obvious to us, that these drivers, having not had the privilege of lapping 'the ring' in Gran Turismo, allowing them a rough idea of its layout, are wholly unaware of the dangers around the next turn. Coming into the famous Adenauer-Forst turn at speed, drivers were left with little room to correct. High entry speed, feather-light vehicles, a potent mixture, sure to end in a roll over (as seen in the video). Add to that, soft suspension setups, tall, skinny, low grip tires, and it is no surprise to us, that so many found themselves wrong side up. Spectators today will be witness to far less carnage, as vehicles are engineered (over engineered) allowing drivers to push the limits with little concern for loosing traction, let alone rolling on their roofs. Kind of late '60's surfer film meets America's funniest home videos. Enjoy // 08.11.2008
