HISTORY // THE 1969 ISLE OF MAN TT

With the 2010 Isle of Man TT set to begin in but a few hours, I thought we'd take a look back at one of the more memorable time trials held on the famed British isle. Separated into eight different classes, the 1969 Isle of Man TT saw riders compete on everything from lightweight 125cc motorcycles, to 500cc sidecars and the most powerful bikes, the Production 750cc class. Malcolm Uphill (above), riding a Triumph Bonneville, collected the first of two career 750cc class wins, beating British rider, Paul Smart, by more than a half a second. Uphill's average speed was 99.99 mph.
