NEWS // CASTRONEVES WINS INDY GRAND PRIX OF ALABAMA

Helio Castroneves collected his first victory since last June, utilizing a two-stop strategy to win the IndyCar Series' inaugural round at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Ganassi's Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, who chose to use the same two-stop strategy as Castroneves, completed the podium.

Will Power, who won the first two races of the season, chose to make three stops, a decision that would cause the Australian driver to finish fourth. Although he lead much of the race, Marco Andretti, who hasn't won an IndyCar race in nearly four years, was forced to pit late in the race as his attempt to conserve fuel failed. Andretti would go on to finish in fifth.
