EYE CANDY // FOUR OFF @ THUNDERHILL

Seeing as how this photo was so popular on the ColdTrackDays Facebook page, we thought we'd share this bit of Eye Candy with all of our readers not participating in social networking. The photo, which came to us courtesy of PhotoFinish, was apparently taken at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California during what we assume was a Porsche Club lap day. Any additional information is greatly appreciated // [comment]

  1. Looks like its over turn 5, going CW, its a very common spot for drivers to get lifted if they are on the left side coming over the hill.

  2. I love it.

I had my first spin there at the bypass (but going the "right" direction) during my first HPDE, 2 years ago. I was on a Mustang GT's tail, trying to stay close so he'd wave me by on the straight between T6 and T8, when I realized he'd lifted a bit on the uphill portion after T4...so I lifted too...but not until we'd gone light over the crest...and I think you can figure out the rest from there.

The car came to rest on the dirt on the inside of the corner, looking back up the hill, as my instructor said, "Hey, that wasn't too bad! You know what happened there?" Cue sheepish visit to the hot pits for a short chat with the official there. I didn't do it again!

  4. Yep, these pics are a classic feature of running THill backwards and using the T5 bypass. Hug the left, stand on the gas, and even a spec e30 can get all 4 in the air.
