Designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe for the 1967 Formula One season, the Lotus 49 won its F1 debut at Zandvoort with Jim Clark at the wheel. The following year Graham Hill would go on to win the Drivers Championship in the Lotus 49, collecting three wins and six podiums. A proven competitor, the Lotus 49 would see continued success, to include a total of 12 race wins and two Constructor and Driver Championships, before it was replaced by the Lotus 72 in 1970.
