NEWS // TOYOTA TO RACE HYBRID SUPRA @ 2012 LE MANS?

Although Toyota has pulled out of Formula One, the Japanese automaker still has a strong foothold in the motorsport community. Powered by a 473hp V8, the Supra HV-R, like their TF109 Formula One entry, uses regenerative braking, a quick-charging capacitor and three electric motors (two attached to the front wheels and one attached to the rear wheels) to add additional power.

In order for the HV-R to race in the GT1 class at Le Mans, Toyota will need to update the technology a bit and test the car, which would suggest a 2012 entry, assuming all goes as planned.
