The Cascade Sports Car Club has been putting on this enduro for the past 34 years and has seen the race change from 6, 8 and now to a 12 hour enduro. This year marks the second year of the twelve-hour enduro. Unique to this year however, Cascade has added a six-hour enduro, which will start at the same time and competitors will be on track together. The six-hour event will simply end in the middle of the afternoon while those in the twelve-hour will race into the dark of night. Every year for the past 33 years they’ve started this race with a Le Mans style start making this “the longest running Le Mans start in the United States” giving much respect to Le Mans of course... For the local fans this race will be contested by many of the PRO3 drivers that race locally in conference or ICSCC sanctioned events. Out of the eleven teams running in this years P2 class all but three cars are the ever popular PRO3 E30 BMW. A few of the drivers competing in this years enduro are relatively new to the PRO3 family with Dan Rogers, Bart House, Michael Shulman just to name a few. One of the competitors coming back to the Pacific Northwest for this race is Kevin York. Kevin is looking forward to competing with and against some old friends and I’m sure the P2 drivers will make him feel right at home.
When asked asked how he felt about coming to this years race, Kevin replied: "Our participation in this event - and successful completion of it - will be an exciting way to continue the relationship with our Pacific Northwest friends at the West Coast Touring Cars team." Kevin remarked from his office in Charlotte, NC. "I look forward to driving with Rob again as well as our co-drivers for the event, Paul Forgey and Tom Olsson. I know the team - and sponsor Car Tender - are working hard to make the new BMW PRO3 car fast and reliable. We'll be gunning for a P2 class win this year to go along with the P3 class win I enjoyed in 2004."
With the typical weather patterns of the Pacific Northwest Mike Olsen (Team Reaper/Spirit Halloween Superstores/TCMotorsports) 2009 first runner up in the PRO3 season is aiming for the podium in the P2 class. Mike has put together a good team of drivers and is some what excited to see a little rain in the forecast many drivers know rain is the great equalizer.
The two time defending PRO3 champion Jeff Van Lierop (Team Grass Roots Racing) is teaming up with Randy Blaylock of Highlander Motorsports, the pair of drivers are believed to be the only team of two running in the 12 hours enduro.
Two relative new comers to the ranks of PRO3 this year Dan Rogers and Bart House will team up with veteran PRO3 driver Ken Hill. In 2006 Ken and his twin brother Wes had the distinct pleasure of racing with Team Seattle at the 24 hours of Daytona in a Porsche GT3 cup car. The experience that Ken brings to this team will for sure be tapped into.
