Driver selection for the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup has begun with the first of three karting qualifiers having taken place on August 3rd at F1 Outdoors in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. The second qualifier is scheduled for September 21st, where the next group of drivers will compete in a series of timed events in identical CRG Kali Karts with Rotax engines. The top ten drivers from each qualifier will then go on to the final drivers selction set for February of 2010, where the field will be reduced to 25.
The Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup offeres up and coming race divers the opportunity to compete in an SCCA sanctioned developkment series, racing on the most challenging courses across the US. The Jetta TDI Cup pays out over $50,000 in purse winnings, while the series champion will take home $100,000. Additionally, all drivers who complete the season will also be awarded their SCCA Pro Racing license.
