MUSTANG HOT LAPS @ PACIFIC RACEWAYS // PART TWO

Few things bring a smile to my face more quickly than the sound of an American V8 powering through turn 9 at Pacific Raceways. Up the backside and through turn 7, brake slightly as you enter turn 8, balance grip and throttle, then foot down, touch your apex, turn in towards the wall and head flat out into turn 10. From the grandstands, the sheer speed can seem overwhelming. The cars shake the fencing as they pass through turn 9. A cone attached to the top of the fence marks the apex, and drivers that are familiar with the track know where traction is lost as you leave turn 9 and head down the short straight into turn 10. From a photographers perspective, having made my way across the track to catch the cars as they power through turn 9, the view is nothing short of spectacular... [read more]

Following up on our first post from the Mustang Hot Laps at Pacific Raceways presented by Brad's Custom Auto and ProFormance Racing School, here are a few shots of the on-track action from last week...
Jon Ament of TC Motorsports brought out his track toy, a late 90's fox-body Mustang. With ample power and a host of suspension upgrades Jon's Mustang would have been quite the ride, had his head gasket not blown during its first outing :(

I love the look of the S197 Roush Mustang. The fog lights in the grill really set this car apart. Great look.

A very clean Mustang C/S that looked as good standing still as it did on track.

A Lotus 2-Eleven was on track all afternoon, mixing it up with the Mustang crowd.

The sound coming from this SN95 Mustang Cobra was inspirational, not to mention the speed at which it entered turn 9!

Another SN95 Mustang at speed through turn 9.

I loved the look of this widebody 1967(8) Mustang Coupe.

It is always a treat to see street driven cars running flat out around Pacific Raceways.

A great looking S197 Mustang heads up the backside and into turn 8.

The noise this Roush 427R made was music to my ears :D
