Pickett was eventually able to mount a challenge on Drissi, With flames spewing out the exhaust, Pickett outbraked Drissi into the turn 1 chicane complex.

Pickett held his new lead, even pulling out a gap between himself and second place Drissi until with only a handful of laps remaining his engine suffered a massive and spectacular failure.

Tommy Drissi took his 2nd career win, nine years after his first.
