UK TIME ATTACK SERIES // ROUND 2 @ KNOCKHILL

Knockhill also saw the second round of the UK Time Attack series take place, with all eyes on favourite Olly Clark who holds the course record. However with RSE Motorsport taking the win in Round One at Oulton Park, fans were eager to see who’d be taking the Scottish crown home with that age old question: Evo or Impreza? [read more]

Amidst the Evos and Imprezas was another factor: a certain yellow and black Lotus Elise driven by Steve Guglielmi. The Scot managed to weave through the field dominated by Japanese powerhouses and navigate its way swiftly through the various ups and downs of Knockhill to take second place for the Pro Class.

Andy Gallagher also reinforced the non-JDM front with the prototype Ford Focus Cosworth, pulling in the third fastest time overall. Being a prototype however it meant Gallagher was not in the running for the Pro Class top spots.

Not that the Japanese powerhouses didn’t put up a fight of course, with the RSE Motorsport team once again putting in an impressive display, taking the top spot and with a different driver too. Rory Butcher took over Chris Ward’s shoes as he went on to drive flawlessly throughout the day and breaking that course record held by Olly Clark.

As for Clark, he did his best to control that beast of an Impreza he calls ‘The Gobstopper’ around the Scottish circuit, but despite his efforts could only muster up fourth place. Tom Ferrier in the Zen Performance Impreza who dueled with Clark for the better part of the day however took third position and rounded up the podium for the Pro Class.

Club Challenge class saw Round One winner Shane Smith putting together another great drive in the Abbey Motorsport Skyline, with Smith taking the top spot only right at the last minute of the session. Whilst Anthony Elrick took the second fastest time of the day he wasn’t eligible for the podium as he was only taking part in the Knockhill round.

That meant Russ Paton in his silver Evo VI took second place, and Duncan Graham takes another third place in his blue Impreza continuing his good form from Round One.

In the battle between the RWD cars, Steve Linton in his Garage Whifbitz Supra took top spot again pulling in consistent fast laps throughout the day. Following closely behind him was Kevin Duckworth with his Apex Performance Nissan S13 in second and Gordon Wright in his black R33 Nissan Skyline.

Last but not least after a disappointing Round One performance, Paul Hughes in his Buddy Club Integra Type-R DC5 was the fastest FF car of the day finishing seventh fastest in the whole Club Challenge class.
