1955 DUTCH GP // MERCEDES NO STRANGER TO ONE-TWO FINISHES

The one-two finish for Brawn GP at last weekends Australian Grand Prix, was only the second time a team managed a one-two finish on their debut in Formula One.

When Mercedes-Benz entered the 1954 Formula One World Championship, they employed the skills Juan Manuel Fangio, Karl Kling and their newly developed W196. When they made their debut at the French Grand Prix in Reims, Fangio captured the win for Mercedes, with teammate Kling taking second, only 0.1 seconds off of Fangio's pace. The first time a team had finished one-two on their Formula One debut, both Mercedes and their W196 would go on to see tremendous success over the next 55 years.
