Featured above is Creventic’s CR8 Audi, the first non factory-backed Audi R8 to compete thus far. Developed largely in the Netherlands, the CR8 made its racing debut at this years 24 Hours of Dubai. During the event, Ivo Breukers (who initiated the Audi CR-8 project) shared driving duties with WTCC competitors Jaap van Lagen and Viktor Shapovalov. Though the CR8 was prematurely removed from competition due to technical problems, the Audi’s potential was abundantly clear to all.
Powered by a 440bhp 4.1-liter V8, the Creventic CR8 sends power to the rear wheels courtesy of a Holinger six-speed gearbox and now features a Brembo competition brake system and a 120 litre fuel tank. With a number of endurance races scheduled for 2009, we expect a few podium finishes for the new Audi. Stay tuned.
