Word has it that at the start of the 2009 Formula One season, the Grand Prix cars of Ferrari will be emblazoned with the logo of Indian automaker, Tata Motors. The Tata group has purchased rights to sponsor Ferrari’s F1 efforts through the ‘09 season, and will provide some much needed financial support for the Italian automaker.
The news does not come as a surprise, considering Fiat (who owns Ferrari) is currently tangled up with Tata in a handful of joint ventures. It is however big news for Tata, as having their corporate logo affixed to a Ferrari F1 car openly associates them with one of the most prestigious supercar manufacturers in the world. And for a company looking to make a global mark, that can't hurt. As for the 'powered by Tata' bit... we were only kidding // 12.22.2008
