ReplyDeleteThe car seen here is actually not the first E-type, or even a first-year one (1961). It is an early Series 1 car, likely around 1963 (same vintage as me!) It was supplied to the LA Car show by a local Jaguar Club member for display.
The very first E-type, driven overnight to Geneva from Coventry was this one:

The first few hundred cars are easy to spot as they have external bonnet latches like the D-type.
