GEAR // OFFICIAL TIMEPIECE OF THE '09 DAKAR

With the 2009 Dakar Rally just a few months away (Jan.3), we thought it appropriate to feature a bit of 'Dakar Gear' for all you early Xmas shoppers. The Wyler Geneve chronograph, Limited to 182 pieces, is the official watch of the 6,000 mile rally. Using a shock absorbing case, movement sealed within a titanium container affixed to a carbon-fibre resin frame, with sprung titanium springs to keep things in place, the result is an independently suspended movement, no easy task. The chronograph's also features a material known as tantalum (apparently rarer than gold), which gives the watch its blue-grey sheen, as well as sand color detailing, Arabic numerals and a black rubber strap, you are not likely to see yourself coming or going.
