If you have driven the new Miata, you are well aware it lacks a little under the hood. Handles great, corners on rails, proper top down motoring, all of that, just missing a little of that Mazda 'Zoom-Zoom.' That being said, hopes were high, that Mazda would stuff the turbocharged, direct-injected 2.3 Liter, currently being utilized in the CX-7, Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazdaspeed 6, into the latest Miata. But according to Mazda's PR guy, Jeremy Barnes, it simply wont fit. Well, thats not entirely true. It will fit, only Mazda will have to cut a hole in the firewall to fit a waterpump. Our advice to the gentlemen at Mazda: cut the hole. Until then, we will have to settle for DIY turbo kits, hey, those never fail to impress // 08.05.2008
