More fuel efficient fun. Alpina, you know, BMW tuning specialists responsible for this, have had their way with a 123d. Taking the mild mannered diesel coupe, working it over, the guys at Alpina call it the D3. Their latest creation is a bi-turbo, diesel powered coupe, putting down 214bhp and 330 lb/ft of torque. Those a good numbers for a diesel, but here are some even better ones. The D3, equipped with a manual transmission, will average 52mpg. Available in Europe only, the new Alpina will cost you a cool $64,500. Pricey? Yes. Good gas mileage and adequate performance, making US built coupes look bad? Definitely // 08.06.2008
