Time Attack at the Mazda GP // July 25-26

Time Attack has been growing in popularity, stretching across the seas from Japan and beginning to show itself on our Western shores. Essentially hot lapping, drivers take to the track to lay down the fastest time amongst a field of competitors. An event made famous at Japan's Tsukuba Circuit in the mid nineties, where acquiring the fastest lap time became a national interest, drawing huge crowds and massive attention from both the local tuning shops as well as the press. Fast forward to today, with next weekends Mazda Grand Prix of Portland acting as a week long motorsports spectactle, local Time Attack competitors will take the track at Portland International Raceway for practice on Friday, and hot laps on Saturday. $250 to enter a car, pre-registration required and there are a few requirements for both driver and car. An opportunity to prove your worth on the race track in a safe and fun environment. Click here for info on registering // 07.20.2008
