Renault Alpine // Brining the Fun Back

Renault, as of late, has not known for producing anything but economical, affordable and mild mannered automobiles. Though the French automaker has a valiant Formula One effort underway, the showrooms are sorely lacking anything sporty. We reported a few weeks back on the return of the Renault Alpine A110, a car that in its time dominated the rally scene and left its mark on the automotive community. Renault currently uses 'RS' badging to designate a 'sport package', though as we mentioned, there is little sport being infused in any of their current lineup. Enter the Alpine. With the success of Fiat's Abarth brand, Renault is looking to get in on some of the fun. To be unveiled late this year in conjunction with the release of the latest edition Megane hatch, Renault will re-introduce the Alpine to the market. The above image is the 2006 Alpine 210 RS concept car, and if the next Alpine looks anything like the original, sport will no longer be absent from Renault dealers // 07.18.2008
