Juan Pablo Sierra Lendle, having qualified on pole for the third round of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup at the New Jersey Motorsport Park, was able to run flag to flag without interruption, collecting his first TDI Cup win after three years in the series... [read more]
"Finally after three years in the Series I earned my first win," said Sierra Lendle after the race. "I've been close to winning several times and to get the win today is just fantastic. I felt great behind the wheel and the car handled very well all afternoon. I knew I'd built up a slight lead, so I tried to stay calm and run a smart race. Fortunately, I did just that and I finally found my way into Victory Lane. My family was able to come from Mexico to watch the race this weekend, and I can't think of a better present to give my mother on Mother's Day."
Following Sierra Lendle were two rookies, Arie Ouimet and Chris Wehrheim, who finished second and third respectively. Ouimet is the 2010 Volkswagen Karting Scholarship winner, which he earned by defeating 32 other karting candidates for an opportunity to attend the Volkswagen driver selection event in Las Vegas. Along with a chance to drive in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup, Ouimet also received a $45,000 scholarship to help fund his efforts during the 2010 season.

When I arrived at Road America, I was amazed at the size of the track. It is seriously a world class facility. I am very excited to be able to come here. As today was a thursday, the teams were still getting set up so I wandered the vast pit and paddock areas, looking at the cars, bring back memories from the last time I had seen these fantastic cars in action. I also took the time to scout around the track a bit. A golf cart is really a must here given the track is over 4 miles long. I was able to catch a few cars on track during the test sessions. Here are a few shots from today... [read more]

JOEY ATTERBURY QUALIFIES SECOND @ MID-OHIO
Just received word that Northwest native Joey Atterbury has qualified second ahead of this weekends Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The first visit to Mid-Ohio for VW's new racing series, the drivers had to quickly learn the 13 turn, 2.25 mile road course in Lexington, Ohio, before the green flag waves for this Sundays race.
With heavy rainfall coming late in the morning, drivers struggled to find grip during the mornings practice session. However, much to the delight of both the drivers and the fans, the rain stopped just in time for this afternoons 30 minute qualifying session. When the checkered flag waved on the session, rookie driver Devin Cates was sitting on pole with a 1:40.176 lap time. Qualifying second was Joey Atterbury who managed a 1:40.188 lap, only 0.012 seconds off the pace of Cates.
