GRAND-AM // BRUMOS PORSCHE 250 @ DAYTONA

Over the weekend, the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series held its ninth round of competition, the Brumos Porsche 250 at the Daytona International Speedway. This was the second time the GRAND-AM series has visited the infamous Florida speedway this season, and ColdTrackDays correspondent, Curtis Creager, was lucky enough to be trackside all weekend.

ROLEX GRAND-AM // MEMORIAL DAY CLASSIC @ LIME ROCK

ColdTrackDays correspondent, Curtis Creager, spent last weekend at Lime Rock Park in Lime Rock, Connecticut photographing not only the CTSCC race featured earlier, but also the sixth round of the 2010 Rolex GRAND-AM Series, the 25th annual Memorial Day Classic.

Max Angelelli and Wayne Taylor, sharing driving duties in the SunTrust Racing Ford Dallara, were able to hold off the Starworks Motorsport BMW Riley of Dalziel and Forest to collect their first win of the 2010 season. In the Grand Touring class, it was the SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 of Adam Christodoulou and John Edwards that took home the trophy, also their first of the season.

EVENT // DRIVE & DINE WITH PATRICK DEMPSEY

Team Seattle and Dempsey Racing held a special on-track experience at Pacific Raceways earlier this week which raised more than $60,000 in donations that will be split between Seattle Children’s Hospital and The Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope & Healing. Guests donated $1000 each in exchange for a once in a lifetime experience which included few laps around Pacific Raceways in one of four Ferraris provided by both Ferrari of Seattle and Ferrari North America. Guests included notable Team Seattle and Dempsey Racing partners, as well as King County officials and author Garth Stein whose book The Art of Racing in the Rain is set in the Pacific Northwest.

GRAND-AM drivers Patrick Dempsey, Joe Foster, James Gue and Don Kitch Jr. piloted the cars for over two hours, giving those in attendance the chance to experience a few laps of Pacific Raceways at speed. Following the on track activity guests were provided with a fully catered three course meal and listened while Don Kitch Jr. (Team Seattle founder), Dr. Gordon Cohen and Patrick Dempsey explained the importance of Team Seattle and their efforts to support Seattle Children's Hospital.
